Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province,with more than 400 years of history is an important ecological leisure tourism city in Southwest of China. Guizhou is an inland mountainous province with beautiful environment and agreeable climate. The province has a total population of 35 million, with 38% of which come from 17 ethnic groups including Miao, Yi, Dong, Buyi, and Sui. The world renowned scenic spots include the Huangguoshu Waterfall, 3rd largest waterfall in the world; the Zhijing Karst Caves with a cavity size of 5 million m3, and the Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, the culture of the Miao ethnic group has been perfectly preserved.
Certain areas of Guizhou are severely affected by the coal-burning type of endemic fluorosis. Ten million of its residents have dental fluorosis and 800,000 have skeletal fluorosis. This endemic fluorosis has now been efficiently controlled by systemic and comprehensive treatment.
